Hair Flowing In Butter For The Journey

A young lady came to me recently and said her 4 year old daughter was allergic to Shea Butter. This was the first time I’d ever heard of anyone being allergic to one of the most popular butters for the Hair and Skin. Most Hair care products for Natural hair has the Ingredient Shea butter, which comes from the shea-karite tree which is a native tree found in the tropics of East and West Africa. The nuts from this tree are harvested, cracked, grilled, and pounded before being boiled, allowing the fat (shea butter) to rise to the top. Shea Butter is heavier than most butters, but it works wonders for damaged and brittle hair.

However, there are several other butters that can be used in place of the wildly popular Shea Butter.

Mango butter
This butter’s composition closely resembles shea and cocoa. This butter is derived from the kernels of the mangos and found in the rain forests of the world. This butter has vitamins A and C and can combat free radicals because of the vitamin E. If you are allergic to shea butter or just do not care for the smell then this is a great alternative. With such a high concentration of oleic acid you get an ultra-moisturizing, water loss fighting butter that will also be great at protecting your strands with the stearic acid. Great for hair that needs a lot of moisture and UV protection.

Cupuacu Butter
Cupuacu butter is an amazing hair moisturizer that possesses water absorbing abilities. This butter helps strengthen hair and promote a healthy scalp, all thanks to its abundant nutrients and minerals. It’s definitely, perfect for your winter regimen.

Muru Muru Butter
Murumuru butter is pressed from the fruits of the Astrocaryum murumuru tree, a tall palm tree native to Brazil and other regions of the Amazon. Extracted from the kernel of the fruit that bears the same name, Muru Muru butter is light and slightly nutty. Being rich in omegas, it helps soften the hair, promotes elasticity, shine, and locks in moisture. This butter also helps control frizz and define curls.
