My favorite Holiday is Christmas Day. Despite it’s pagan origin, the true meaning of Christmas as we all know, is about the birth of Jesus Christ. As a child on Christmas Eve I can remember not being able to sleep, because I just couldn’t wait till the morning to open my presents under the tree. It was truly the most exciting times of my childhood.
As soon as my parents came in my room to let me know I could open my presents, I’d run to the living room so quickly with anticipation to see what I got. It’s some of the best memories of my life growing up.
As a child, Christmas is that day you look forward to all year long. I can remember working hard in school, and staying out of trouble just so I could get everything I asked for underneath the tree come Christmas morning. I knew if I worked hard and behaved myself, it would pay off because Christmas was right around the corner.
Now that I am an adult the Christmas holiday is still near and dear to my heart. The only difference now versus back then is I’m living life with Heaven on my mind. I’m working everyday to please my Redeemer. He wrote my name in the book of life, so I can’t displease Him. You see the real Christmas is the day when I see Jesus!
So now each day of my life I’ve got to take up my cross and follow Jesus. I’ve got to stay focused on the great commission, keep my eyes on the prize, and keep working for the Lord. Because I know that when I get to heaven, it will be just like Christmas morning.
Jesus has a mansion for me, he has five heavenly crowns just for me, and I’m standing on His promises.
He promised me if I can endure temptation when I am tried, I’ll receive the Crown of Life. He promised me if I strive to demonstrate self-denial and perseverance, I will receive an Incorruptible Crown. My Lord the righteous judge will give me a Crown of Righteousness, and not to me only but also my sisters and brothers in Christ who love His appearing. My Lord Jesus the Chief Shepherd will give me a Crown of Glory that will never fade away, if I am unselfish, loving and being a good example to others. He promised me a Crown of Rejoicing through engaging in the ministry of evangelism.
Jesus proclaims heaven as a large place, a place so large that its possibilities transcend one’s imagination and exceed our comprehension. He says in my Father’s house are many mansions! Jesus says,” I go to prepare a place for you! “
That’s right Jesus is personally superintending this extra building project in Heaven. I’ve got a mansion just for me prepared by my Lord and Savior! Christmas is coming and I’m waiting with anticipation and expectation.
You see this life here on earth is but a vapor and there’s so much to distract me from doing my real work. But I will keep down the straight and narrow path of righteousness because when I see His beautiful face and hear Him say “Well Done my good and faithful servant,” it will be Christmas!! That’s right Christmas is coming!! Amen.
